Resources · Relapse

After a relapse - start with safety.

Then reassess whether outpatient care still fits. You do not have to figure out the level of care alone.

Safety first

If there is overdose risk, severe withdrawal, or immediate danger, call 911. For suicidal crisis, call or text 988. Do not wait for a business-hours appointment.

02

Reassess level of care

A relapse does not automatically mean the same outpatient intensity is still appropriate. Admissions can help determine whether PHP, IOP, or a higher level of care is safer.

03

Call without shame

Relapse is common in recovery. A confidential conversation is a clinical next step - not a moral failure.

04

Find the right next step

R&R Recovery is an outpatient program. If detox or another higher level of care is needed, we help with referral.

Talk through next steps

Call (714) 274-7969 for a confidential reassessment. Related reading: PHP, IOP, admissions.

Safety & fit

  • If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.
  • R&R Recovery provides outpatient levels of care - PHP, IOP, extended care, and group therapy - for adults who are medically stable enough for day treatment.
  • When a higher level of care is clinically appropriate, admissions will help with referral to a vetted provider that can meet that need.
